Mainstream music is beginning to redefine itself. Todays top 100 list is exposing the mainstream audiences to so many different genres. The top charts are being infected with "oldies", hip-hop, rock, techno, folk, country, and the list goes on. The stereotype is being realigned. Some say this is good for exposing music enveloped with so-called talent, some argue it as bad because the radio with overexpose the songs and in the end ruin the once unique, underground sounds. For example the band Owl City and the band Mumford & Sons. Either way you argue, you can't deny the incredible outbreak this is for mainstream music. The sound of American society is becoming more and more diverse with every new single.
