A Review of The Voice

A new show has recently debuted revealing talent from all around the nation. It's going head to head with the previously top talent search American Idol. The Voice differs from Idol in that the judges: Christina Aguilara, Adam Levine Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, judge the contestant by stictly listening to their voice. They don't see the contestant utnil they press "the button" choosing to work with them, once this is done they get to turn around and actually meet the talented voice they were hearing. The Voice seems to have caught alot of attention for its individuality and unique process of choosing talent. It has gained a large viewer audience and i predict will soon be a top competitor with American Idol and America's Got Talent.

An Analysis of Taylor Swift Lyrics

White Horse by Taylor Swift
Say you're sorry, that face of an angel
Comes out just when you need it to
As I paced back and forth all this time
Cause I honestly believed in you

Holding on, the days drag on
Stupid girl, I should have known
I should have known

I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale
I'm not the one you'll sweep off her feet
Lead her up the stairwell

This ain't Hollywood, this is a small town
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down
Now it's too late for you and your white horse, to come around

Baby I was naive, got lost in your eyes
And never really had a chance
I had so many dreams about you and me
Happy endings, now I know....

Taylor Swift is both praised and put down for her unique style. Her simplistic voice and equally straightforward writing style caught people off guard, reminiscent of a highschool diary entry. Why hadn't anyone thought of this before? It was so easy, yet every artist before hadn't done this. People argue that she lacks talent, but the fact is this simple sltyle wouldn't have existed without her. Through the universality of her storytelling, fans can connect and relate easily with the artist. As a fan, Taylor helps teenagers and young adults through every emotion and experience. She has accomplished in her early years what every musician hopes for: a legendary style all her own. Now, when anyone with a pure, effortless voice sings simplistic lyrics they are labeled as "Taylor Swift-y." Whether you enjoy her music or not, no one can deny that she possess talent, an individuality that connects with thousands of people around the world.

MY IMITATION:
one day, one nights not enough for me
i gotta see your face every day of the week
but still one nights got my heart skippin a beat
feeling weak

cause the way you walk, the way you talk's
got my heart and soul locked, on you
and the way i feel is so real
this song is a letter sealed coming straight for you

cause i-i-i cannot put into words
what i feel inside
ther-er-er is no
explanation no translation for the sensation the fixation
nothing with the right connotation
for what i feel for you

Mainstream Music

Mainstream music is beginning to redefine itself. Todays top 100 list is exposing the mainstream audiences to so many different genres. The top charts are being infected with "oldies", hip-hop, rock, techno, folk, country, and the list goes on. The stereotype is being realigned. Some say this is good for exposing music enveloped with so-called talent, some argue it as bad because the radio with overexpose the songs and in the end ruin the once unique, underground sounds. For example the band Owl City and the band Mumford & Sons. Either way you argue, you can't deny the incredible outbreak this is for mainstream music. The sound of American society is becoming more and more diverse with every new single.
